Why should I get involved?

Our PTA is run by volunteers for the benefit of our children and their school. With regular cuts to government funding, schools in general are becoming increasingly dependent on PTAs for help to pay for equipment and facilities.

By running the Heron Way PTA as a registered charity, we ensure the monies raised goes directly back into the school to provide much needed items that will enrich our children’s education. PTA Committee members and headteacher James Crump, decide how the monies raised should be spent, having previously consulted with the wider PTA. Don’t ignore your opportunity to get involved and have your say.

I’d like to be involved but I don’t have much time to give…

Being a member of Heron Way PTA is totally flexible. Give as little or as much of your time as you want. Providing an hour or two to help out on a stall at the Christmas Bazaar or Summer Fete can make all the difference, as does baking a cake for the End of Term Cake Sale, selling raffle tickets to friends and family or sourcing raffle prizes when you next pop into town.

And if your employer has a Corporate Social Responsibility charter, we’d welcome any opportunities they might offer to match funds raised or provide sponsorship at our larger events.

If you’re able to spare more time and join the Committee, or perhaps take the lead on organising a key event, we’d also like to hear from you. You can join a meeting at any time and it’s a great opportunity to meet and socialise with other parents too. And it’s not just for Mums – Dads are also warmly welcomed!

Check out the playground noticeboards, the events section or the news page for dates of upcoming events and the next PTA meeting. Or contact the Chair, Andy Brown for further information.
