Heron Way 10k Trail Run and Fun Run

The 2023 Heron Way 10k trail run and fun run will be held on Sunday the 1st of October 2023.

The children’s fun run will start at 10am.

The 10k trail run will start at 11am.

All runners in both races will receive a medal, race memento, cup of tea/coffee and a piece of homemade cake.

 

The 10k trail run (over 16s only) is a mainly an off road race starting and finishing at Heron Way Primary School, and takes you around St Leonard’s Forest. Before the 10k there will be a one mile children’s fun run that is held exclusively within the grounds of the school.

Cost

Fun run entry – £3.50

10k entry (over 16s only) – £20

 

Prizes

  • First Male/female finisher.
  • First male/female Heron Way Parent or guardian.
  • First Heron Way Staff member.
  • Mystery Prize. This will be given to the winner of a pre-decided but unannounced category, i.e. First finisher in green shorts or most muddy finisher etc. The mystery category will not be announced till after the race.

 

Timings & Results

The fun run will begin at 10am and the 10k race will start at 11am.

The one mile children’s fun run features an optional colour run and held exclusively in the grounds of Heron Way Primary School.

Please arrive at the start line 10 mins before the races as there will be a race briefing and a group warm-up! There will be a prize giving at 1pm with results posted on the race website within 48hrs. There is no chip timing at this event and the race referee’s decision is final.

 

 

Dogs

Please note that dogs are not allowed to accompany runners during the race.  It is the policy of Heron Way School that dogs (with the exception of guide dogs) are not allowed on the school premises at any time.

 

Parking

Parking will be available at the front entrance to Millais School in Depot Road – postcode: RH13 5HR.  Please note this car park will be unmanned. This is approximately a 6 min walk from the start line.  From Millais car park, turn right onto Depot Road and then right at the mini roundabout onto Compton’s Lane. After approx 150m cross the road and turn left into Heron Way.  Follow this road for approx 300m until you arrive at the school.
THERE WILL BE NO PARKING DIRECTLY OUTSIDE THE SCHOOL OR IN THE SCHOOL GROUNDS.

 

Bags

Bag storage will be available at the school.

 

Directions

The Start/Finish lines are in the grounds of Heron Way Primary School, RH13 6DJ.

 

Cancellation

If the organisers have to cancel the race for any unforeseen circumstances then they reserve the right to retain part of the entry fees to cover costs.

 

Medical Provision

Medical assistance will be provided by Impact Training. If you feel unwell during the run please inform a race marshal, who will summon help. Please stay with the race marshal until help arrives. If you have any medical condition, please give details on the reverse of your race number and a contact telephone number. All runners must declare that they are medically fit to run and take part at their own risk.

 

Refreshments

Teas, coffee, soft drinks and light refreshments etc will be available
